This is a 2014 horror movie by the name of "The Host" directed by Andrew Niccol, produced by Fred Berger. The film was based off of Stephenie Meyer's successful novel of the same name. The story begins when Melanie Stryder, a high school student living in Atlanta, gets an offer to join other humans in order to save her people from an army of otherworldly invaders called Walkers after they kidnap her best friend that she has known for most of her life since she was seventeen years old. Her friend Jared takes care of Melanie's family after Jeff's death when she was just twelve years old. She travels to meet the other humans and finds her husband, Chris, and her two children waiting for her there. She is held captive by the Walkers to protect both the human race and the Earth that she lives on from this invasion. Melanie then adds both friends that she made before she was captured to her group of fellow humans, as well as a Korean girl named Eun-Joo who was also captured by the Walkers. After making it safely through the initial stages of their journey, Melanie and her group encounter a lone Walker named "Arthur" and his brother, Thomas. They manage to kill the Walkers but Thomas dies from his injuries. After coming back from their journey, Melanie and her group realize that they all have been infected with a red substance which was a cellular bio-weapon made by the Walkers. They all soon die, but with Melanie's last breath she writes a letter giving Jared instructions on how to make their children immune to the infection. It is shown in a flashback that Jared was with her family at the time of Jeff's death and also helped her cope with it by caring for them and taking care of them while telling them everything would be okay after Jeff's death. In the end of the movie, after Melanie's death, Jared goes on a search to find their children and gives them each a vial of Melanie's blood. The children both survive and have some immunity to the Walkers' bio-weapon. The film earned $45 million on a $40 million budget.
